Last days in 6th grade...

So although it has been 2 weeks ago now, I never got to post about my last day at the Elementary school this semester. I had the most amazing group of 6th graders, EVER! However, before the semester began I was terrified of having 6th grade, since I had never been placed higher than 2nd grade! Much to my surprise, I fell in love with the kids and the content of 6th grade! Lately, I've been thinking to myself, how in the world am I going to go from 6th grade to 3rd grade in a month?! Nonetheless, I am beyond exciting to begin my student teaching Jan. 3rd!
Anywho, on my last day, I gave my teacher a wreath made out of crayons! This would mark my FIRST Pinterest craft ! Heres how I made mine:

Two embroidery hoops (I used a 10" and 14")

Box of 64 Crayola Crayons

Hot Glue & hot glue gun

Ribbon of your choice (I used red checkers)

Owls (Wal-mart craft section: these were made out of wood!) This is the teacher's room theme and she LOVES owls... I was so excited when I found them!!!

After an hour of carefully placing the crayons, I finally finished the wreath and here it is::

I am so very proud of how it turned out and she loved it as well!

I wish I had taken a picture of what I got the kids, but it somehow slipped my mind. I put a cookie into a little baggie and tied it with ribbon and a pencil. I left a note on each one that said, "Thank you for helping me Sharpen my Saw. Love, Ms. Shell." Sharpen the saw is one of the 7 habits of highly effective teens/happy kids that the school takes part in (it is called the Leader in Me). It means preserving and enhancing the greatest asset you have ....you. Click

I love these books and it really is such a great way to teach kids to do the right thing!

Now, not only did I get the kiddos and teacher something, they in return got me a little gift. Something that meant more to me than they'll ever know...hand written cards!! Each student wrote their own card with a sweet note and drew pictures. Although I couldn't just pick one, this particular card made me cry my eyes out! How sweet is this note from a 6th grader! Touched my heart. ::

SO SWEET!!!

The teacher also got a little package together for when I travel to Germany, here's what the note read:

Isn't that the cutest idea!? I love it so much and will use everything when I'm in Germany!!! I am SOOO going to miss that school and group of people! They have been so wonderful to me!

Now that this is the last week of classes, hopefully I can blog more and ON TIME! I have so much I want to share but have had trouble finding the time to do so!!! Did I mention its the last week of class?!?! I'm officially done until Student Teaching ! WHOO HOO :)

Till' next time :)
